HIT Set for The 2018 NESAC Finals in Bulawayo

Four students from the Harare Institute of technology are set to participate in the 2018 National Engineering Students Awards Competitions (NESAC) to be held on Friday 28 September 2018 at the National University of Science and Technology.

Mayibongwe Sibanda, a Chemical and Process Systems Engineering student who won the first prize in the HIT 2018 Pre-NESAC Finals oral presentations will be joined by Michelle Chikakano of the Polymer Technology and Engineering department who came first in the poster presentations, Tanyaradzwa Masaire from the same department and Tansley Kanembira of the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering who both came second in the oral and poster presentations respectively.

HIT has previously won two national competitions, and the Institute is highly regarded by the Zimbabwean community as the cradle for engineering excellence.

Auxilliah Chiwanga, a graduate from the Department of Chemical and Process Systems Engineering scooped the First Prize at the 2015 National Engineering Students Competition Awards held at the Harare Institute of Technology, while Tatenda Nengiwa from the Department of Chemical and Process Systems Engineering also won the First Prize at the 2014 National Engineering Students Competition Awards held at the University of Zimbabwe.

Christine Juta, an Electronic Engineering graduate won the second prize at the 2017 NESAC Edition held at the Cresta Lodge in Harare.

The National Engineering Students Awards Competitions (NESAC) organised by the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE), Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) for students in Zimbabwe's tertiary institutions.

Other participants at the 2018 National Engineering Students Awards Competitions (NESAC) are drawn from the University of Zimbabwe, National University of Zimbabwe, Manicaland University of Applied Science, Chinhoyi University of Technology, Bulawayo Polytechnic, Harare Polytechnic, Kwekwe Polytechnic and Mutare Polytechnic.
