HIT enters into MoU with Chungnam National University

Chungnam National UniversityThe Harare Institute of Technology has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chungnam National University based in Daejon, South Korea.

The agreement was entered into on 13 November 2014.

The MoU was bound by the mutual “recognition of common interests in developing bi-lateral relations,- convinced that cooperation between the two universities contributes to cultural enrichment, scientific progress and the consolidation of friendship between countries,” read the preamble to the MoU.

The agreement will be focused on the areas of student and staff exchange, collaborative research and collaboration in instructional and cultural programmes and the development, incubation, transfer and commercialisation of technology.

The MoU will run for an initial period of five years.

Director of Communications and International Relations at the Harare Institute of Technology, Mr Tinashe Mutema, hailed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, stating that it was a positive step towards the consolidation of the HIT brand within the community of universities across the globe.

"This MoU is an indication of our purposive drive to look for opportunities and expand our horizons to like –minded institutions.  We will utilise such agreements to leverage our staff development, student and staff exchange and for the development, incubation, transfer and commercialisation of technology as spelt out in our mandate."

Chugnam National University is recognized as one of the most prestigious five national universities in Korea.
