Students Establish the Food Technology Association (FTA)

Harare Institute of Technology students have formed the Food Technology Association (FTA), a platform for interaction, sharing ideas and innovations.

The Food Technology Association aims to serve as a bridge between the food industry and academia, in order to facilitate a smooth and progressive handover takeover from those already in industry to students as well as providing the industry with professionals who are fully prepared for and aware of the needs of the food processing industry. The association strives to be a body that represents Food Processing Technology students and provide support for their professional development by offering programmes and creating events for this purpose.

It will also facilitate interactions between Food Processing Technology students throughout Zimbabwe, professionals, the general public and other stakeholders from various organisations. The FTA is also set to organise and host various events and activities which are geared towards fulfilling its objectives and these include student-industry interfaces, exhibitions and industrial visits.

The Association is composed of a diverse group of student leaders under the patronage of the Department of Food Processing Technology.
