Diploma In Microfinance

Applications for admission into the Diploma in Microfinance are invited from candidates who meet the below specified entry requirements. Commencing in March 2018, this one-year programme is offered over weekends and public holidays. The Diploma programme gives students an in-depth understanding of the best practices, current technological developments, managerial acumenship and strategic techniques that effectively drive economic growth through competent microfinance enterprise development.

The Diploma in Microfinance Programme is targeted at loan officers, middle and senior level management of any institution offering financial services to the low income markets, including commercial banks, consumer lenders, and microfinance institutions. It is also relevant for consultants and staff of policy making entities such as donors or government departments.

 

Upon completion, a successful candidate should have mastered at a minimum:

  1. An understanding of key issues related to client protection and provisions compliance requirements of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
  2. An ability to measure the financial performance of an institution offering financial services to the low-income market and compare against international benchmarks.
  3. An understanding of the depth and maturity of the global microfinance sector.
  4. An ability to analyze a micro lending methodology and determine its strengths and weaknesses, sustainability, and appropriateness for the client market being served.
  5. Design, develop, implement and manage Financial Inclusion programs and solutions for MFIs.
  6. Perform Microfinance activities in a professional manner according to best local, regional and international standards and ethics.

 

Entry Requirements

At least 5 'O' Levels Including English Language and Mathematics.

A minimum of two years' experience in Microfinance and or related fields.

OR

Certificate in Microfinance or its equivalent
