HIT Enters Into MoU With NSSA

The Harare Institute of Technology today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) to set the framework that facilitates collaboration and liaison between the two parties in the provision of training in occupational safety and health professional development to industrial personnel who will enroll for the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management Course (OSHEMAC) training.

The event took place at the NSSA Head office in Harare, with Dr Maxwell Chanakira representing the Vice Chancellor of the Harare Institute of Technology, Eng. Quinton Kanhukamwe and Mr David Makwara, the Acting General Manager of the National Social Security Authority signing the MoU on behalf of the two parties. The MoU involves HIT’s Technology Centre Training Division and NSSA’s Occupational safety and Health Division.

The two parties are committed to cooperate in curriculum development and review, promotion and advertising, participant enrollment, training, assessment and quality assurance as well as certification. The agreement is valid for three years and is subject to mutual renewal and the two parties shall periodically meet and consult in order to promote smooth operation and cooperation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony HIT’s Pro Vice Chancellor Dr . M. Chanakira said there is a possibility that this Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management (OSHEMAC) training course can become a degree or a post graduate diploma programme.

NSSA Acting General Manager Mr. D. Makwara said his organisation is proud to be associated with HIT. HIT is assured of our support and we should be able to work together.
