PSMI AND SMET Consortium Partner HIT

PSMI and SMET Consortium have entered into partnership and collaboration agreements on the promotion of research and development of innovation as well as the training and development of diagnostics radiographers and medical ultrasound sonographers.

The Premier Service Medical Investments (PSMI) Private Limited, a healthcare service provider, entered into an agreement with HIT in order to collaborate in the training and development of diagnostics radiographers and medical ultrasound sonographers. Under this agreement PSMI shall provide a comprehensive training and internship programme for eligible students studying towards a Diagnostic Radiography degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. It shall also avail assistance through educational sponsorship and coaching for students enrolled for the Diagnostic Radiography degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound as well as to provide a minimum of 12 months work-related learning to selected students.

The health care provider shall also allow for efficient skills transfer during the agreed period of world-related learning at its medical centres, avail the necessary infrastructure to the students during the work-related learning. The Centre for Learning shall also be available for current and future postgraduate studies. PSMI also undertakes to collaborate with HIT on research and other initiatives as agreed upon. It shall also allow its practitioners to take up part-time lecturing opportunities.

This agreement shall subsist indefinitely unless terminated by mutual agreement between the parties.

SMET Consortium will partners HIT in the identification and promotion of research and development of innovations from HIT and potential linkage partners in the Zimbabwean mainstream industrial sector and across the borders. The consortium will solicit green funding for exceptional research and projects in Agriculture and Renewable Energy. It will also draw up with the aid of innovators and HIT proper business plan, marketing plans and financial proposals. The Harare Institute of Technology will select appropriate broad sector based research projects and come up with value capture methods such as equity options and fee-based options on work undertaken and percentages of funds raised.

The partnership agreement shall exist for a period of five years, and shall be automatically renewed by mutual agreement for an additional five years, unless the two parties provide written notification of a decision of non-renewal prior to the expiration date.
