A six member delegation from the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) is seeking cooperation and collaborations with the Harare Institute of Technology.
Head of the delegation, Professor Fenyu Grace Zeng proposed potential cooperation in research and development in smart power development, students and staff exchange, staff development, hosting of international conferences, symposiums and workshops. "We are a working group visiting Zimbabwe to identify possibilities of cooperation with the Harare Institute of Technology in preparation for our University President's visit next year in July. We are therefore, proposing a framework for cooperation in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding with HIT," said Prof Zeng.
HIT Vice Chancellor Engineer Q.C Kanhukamwe assured the visitors that the Institute is ready to engage in cooperation and association with Shanghai University of Electric Power in areas of research and development, power development as well as training for our staff and students. "We are ready to partner yourselves and to collaborate in research and development activities regarding smart power development including sending our students and staff for undergraduate, masters and PhD studies," he said.
Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) was founded in 1951 as a full-time institution of higher education, jointly run by the central government and Shanghai Municipal authority. Its development has pioneered several major progress, such as Shanghai Electric Power School, Shanghai Electric Power Industry School and Shanghai Electric Power Technical College. The institution was granted University status by the Ministry of Education to offer undergraduate studies and officially changed its name to Shanghai University of Electric Power in March 1985. The university the right to offer master’s degree programmes in 2006 and PhD programmes in 2018.
The University has two campuses; the Yangpu and Lingang campuses. It has more than 12,000 full-time students.
SUEP has 12 faculties, namely Energy and Mechanical Engineering, Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Electronics and Information Engineering, Economics and Management, Mathematics and Physics, Foreign Languages, International Exchange, Continuing Education, and Marxism, together with one department of Physical Education.
