Takoradi Technical University Seeks Partnership

Takoradi Technical University of Ghana is seeking to establish a working partnership with the Harare Institute of Technology in areas of staff and student exchanges, sharing of technologies and innovations as well as co-hosting of conferences in selected disciplines.

Takoradi Technical University Seeks PartnershipA two member delegation from Takoradi Technical University recently visited the Harare Institute from 1 – 3 May 2012 with a proposal to establish the mutual relationship. The delegation comprised the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Victor Kweku Bondzie Micah and the Registrar Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory.

"Having established the advancement of the Harare Institute of Technology in terms of programmes, research, innovations, technology development, incubation, transfer and commercialisation, Takoradi Technical University would wish to establish a relationship with Harare Institute of Technology for mutual interests in the areas of students / staff exchange, technology and innovation sharing and co-hosting of Bilateral Conferences in selected disciplines," said Prof. Victor Kweku Bondzie Micah in his address to the HIT senior Management.

The delegation also visited the National Heroes Acre as part of their visit.

Takoradi Technical University was converted from a Polytechnic College in 2016, after the government's policy to convert all Polytechnics in Ghana to Technical University status. Since April ·1954, Takoradi Technical University (formerly Takoradi Polytechnic) has existed as a Government Technical Institute under the Ghana Education Service of the Ministry of Education. During that period, the institute offered programmes mainly at the Craft and Technician Certificate levels in commercial and technical subjects, awarding Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and City and Guilds of London, United Kingdom certification.

To date, the University has three campuses, Effia Kuma is Takoradi’s is main campus, Business Campus (Butumagyebu - Sekondi) and Engineering Campus (Akatakyi - Agona-Nkwanta).

Takoradi Technical University’s vision is to be a world class university recognized for excellence, innovation and societal relevance, while its mission is to provide technical education, training, research and consultancy services to our students and stakeholders to the development of the nation and beyond.

Currently, the University has five faculties, offering various Certificates, Diplomas, Higher National Diplomas, Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology programmes.
