Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) showcased its leadership in research excellence and visibility by participating in the Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium (ZULC) ORCID Community of Practice Training of Trainers Workshop held at ZIPAM in Darwendale on August 5-6, 2025.
Represented by Mr. Joshua Simuka, Ms. Petronella Garande, and Mr. Takudzwa Rusike, HIT staff engaged in intensive training on leveraging ORCID to enhance research credibility, discoverability, and collaboration. The workshop focused on integrating ORCID into research systems, improving researcher profiling, and supporting open science initiatives, culminating in the formation of Zimbabwe’s national ORCID Steering Committee.
Notably, Joshua Simuka and Petronella Garande were appointed as members of this influential body, underscoring HIT’s commitment to shaping Zimbabwe’s research future.
Mr. Simuka emphasised the significance: “This training is a turning point, boosting Zimbabwean research visibility on the global stage, unlocking international funding, and fostering innovation.”
As Zimbabwe works toward Vision 2030, HIT’s active participation signals a bold step toward making local research globally impactful and accessible.
