POSTGRADUATE STUDIES CENTRE MANDATE
The Postgraduate Centre facilitates research sponsorship, coordinates and regulates postgraduate studies, and specialised or multi-disciplinary research carried out within the Harare Institute of Technology. It brings together postgraduate students from all schools encouraging multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and innovation and provides a platform for disruptive innovation research and skills development through highly intense practical learning and research programs.
The main objective of the centre is to provide a one-stop-information hub supporting postgraduate students’ development in degree programmes that provide suitable multidiscipline and prepare students to be innovative scientists, engineers, systems analysts, technologists, and designers who can turn disruptive ideas into working products and services for sustainable development.
Currently, the Harare Institute of Technology boasts 24 postgraduate studies programmes. Among the programmes on offer, there are multidisciplinary doctorate programmes, interdisciplinary master of technology research programmes and taught master’s programmes from five schools namely: Allied Health Sciences, Business & Management Sciences, Industrial Sciences & Technology, Engineering & Technology, and the School of Information Science & Technology to provide advanced knowledge and create human capital for the growth and development of the country.
