Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) Department

The Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) Department is a Department of the Institute responsible for the development, implementation and support of Information and Communication Technology-based services that support the core functions of the Institute.

The Information Communication Technology Services Department’s mandate is to provide the technical infrastructure, information resources, and services that advance the Institute’s strategic goals; enhance instructional technology, teaching and learning; promote effective and efficient work processes; and support information decision making and institutional reporting.

Services

The Information and Communications Technology Services Department provides IT infrastructure, services & resources for all staff and students of the Institute which includes the following services:

  • Institute Telecommunications System.
  • HIT Mail services.
  • ICTS Equipment procurement, dispatch and maintenance.
  • Online Learning Environment.
  • Training and Consultative services.
  • Helpdesk Services.
  • Institute Computer Laboratories.
  • Software and Enterprise/ Business Applications.
  • Web collaboration software and related services.
  • Multimedia services.

Objectives of the Department

The ICTS Department has a number of goals and objectives as tactics in order to accomplish its strategic goals of the Institute.

Goal 1: ICT Infrastructure 
Maintain a reliable and scalable information technology infrastructure, enabling innovative uses of technology for educational excellence.

Goal 2: Availability and Access to Technology
Improve and enhance access to information resources required to effectively accomplish the Institute’s goals and objectives.

Goal 3:  Information Security and Privacy
Maintain a secure campus information technology environment insuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of critical information and systems.

Goal 4: Learning, Teaching and Research
Support of learning and teaching and research through adoption and exploration of relevant technologies and tools and services provision.

Goal 5: Service Delivery
Offer integrated, customer-centric, and intuitive customer services based on industry standards.

Goal 6: ICT Governance
Develop and implement information technology policies, procedures, and practices that efficiently and effectively manage IT assets and meet the technology needs of the Institute.

Goal 7: Technology Training and Awareness
Provide information technology education through the use of training opportunities and the adoption of technology enabled business processes.
