UNZA Delegation Sparks New Horizons in Tech Collaboration During HIT Visit

A high-profile delegation from the University of Zambia (UNZA) visited the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) on August 18, 2025, in Harare, marking a significant step towards strengthening academic, technology and innovation partnerships between the two institutions.
Led by UNZA’s Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Trywell Kalusopa, the four-member team engaged in fruitful discussions with HIT’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Commercialisation, Professor Jephias Gwamuri, along with members of HIT’s senior management.
Professor Kalusopa reaffirmed UNZA’s dedication to deepening collaborative efforts, emphasising the mutual benefits of joint research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. “There is a lot to benefit from each other, and we are here to strengthen our synergies,” he stated.
The delegation toured HIT’s state-of-the-art workshops, laboratories, the extensive library, and the vibrant Innovation Hub—home to cutting-edge research outputs and dynamic startups. The visit showcased the institutions’ shared commitment to fostering innovation, technology development and entrepreneurship.
This visit paves the way for upcoming joint projects, student exchanges, and collaborative research initiatives, promising a bright future for technological advancement and academic excellence in the region.
