The Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) has taken a significant step towards shaping its future by hosting a comprehensive Stakeholder Consultation Workshop, a key initiative in the development of its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. The event served as a dynamic platform for inclusive dialogue, bringing together a diverse cross-section of the university community and its external partners.
Attendees included senior management, academic staff, students, alumni, industry leaders, and government representatives, all united by the common goal of co-creating a visionary roadmap for the institution’s next five years. This collaborative approach underscores HIT’s commitment to ensuring that its future direction is informed by a wide range of perspectives, reflecting the needs and aspirations of all those it serves.
During the workshop, participants engaged in focused discussions on critical areas such as academic innovation, research commercialisation and industrialisation, digital transformation, and sustainable community engagement. The rich, multi-faceted feedback gathered on these pillars is now being meticulously analysed and will be instrumental in drafting a robust and forward-looking strategic plan. This foundational document is expected to guide HIT in strengthening its position as a leading innovation and technopreneurial university, developing, incubating, transferring and commercialising technology for rapid national industrialisation, ensuring its continued relevance and impact in driving national development.
