The Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) culminated its 2025 calendar with a memorable double celebration, marking its 20th Anniversary and honouring the dedicated staff who have been instrumental in its journey. The events, which included a special Long Service Awards Ceremony held during the End of Year Vice Chancellor’s Luncheon on 19 December 2025, brought together the institution’s leadership, academic staff, and administrative personnel to reflect on two decades of transformative growth and service.
In his opening address at the Anniversary Ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor warmly welcomed attendees and expressed great pride in the collective journey. “It is with great pride and honour that I welcome you to this very special occasion—our 20th Anniversary and Long Service Awards Ceremony,” he said. “Today, we celebrate not only the passage of time but also our collective effort, resilience, professionalism and patriotism, which have shaped this institution over the past two decades.”
The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of HIT’s founding mission, established twenty years ago with a bold vision: to serve, educate, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to national development. From humble beginnings, HIT has grown into an institution widely recognised for its impact and promise.
The highlight of the anniversary event was the presentation of Long Service Awards, recognising dedicated staff members for their years of unwavering commitment. This theme of appreciation was further reinforced during the separate annual Recognition Awards ceremony, held to shine a spotlight on outstanding contributions across the institution. Both events underscored the vital role that HIT’s human capital has played in its story of progress and transformation.
The overarching message across both ceremonies was one of profound gratitude. The Recognition Awards ceremony, in particular, emphasised that the institute’s achievements are built on the collective and individual efforts of its entire team. The closing sentiment of the awards—“Thank you for your exceptional service.”—perfectly encapsulated this spirit of appreciation.
As the anniversary celebration concluded, the gathering joined in a toast to the institution’s future: “Happy 20th Anniversary HIT, and may the years ahead be even more impactful.”
Together, these ceremonies not only honoured the past and present contributions of HIT’s staff but also reinforced a shared commitment to continuing the institution’s legacy of innovation, service, and excellence in the years to come. They reaffirmed a culture of recognition, ensuring that the hard work, loyalty, and professionalism of every team member are seen, celebrated, and cherished.
