Spanish Ambassador Explores Scientific Cooperation with HIT

Spanish Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E. Lourdes Sangroniz, paid a fact-finding visit to the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) today, 13 May 2026, meeting Vice Chancellor Prof. Q.C. Knhukamwe and members of Senior Management to explore potential scientific cooperation with Spanish universities, research and technology institutions.
Discussions centred on technology development and transfer, collaborative research, and the promotion of women in STEM fields.
“We are looking forward to more cooperation between HIT and Spanish and European institutions. We are engaging in a scientific diplomacy that aims to bring Spanish expertise to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi,” said Ambassador Sangroniz.
The delegation also toured campus workshops, laboratories and HIT’s Innovation Hub, underscoring Spain’s commitment to advancing regional knowledge partnerships.
