Chief Accounting Assistant – Payroll (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience
- At 5 O’ Levels passes including English Language and Mathematics or Accounts;
- A HEXCO National Diploma/Part B CIS/ACCA Stage 2/CIMA Level 2 or equivalent;
- At least two years relevant post qualification experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Payroll Chief Accounting Assistant will be expected to assist the Payroll Accountant in following duties:
- Prepare and process monthly payroll for academic, administrative, and support staff.
- Capture and update employee payroll information, including appointments, promotions, transfers, allowances, and terminations.
- Verify payroll input data before processing.
- Ensure timely payment of salaries, wages, allowances, and benefits.

- Calculate and process PAYE in accordance with Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) requirements.
- Process NSSA contributions and ensure timely remittance.
- Administer pension contributions and medical aid deductions.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and government regulations affecting payroll administration.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of employee payroll information.
- Archive payroll documentation according to university policies and statutory requirements.
- Supervise Payroll Clerks and Accounting Assistants within the payroll section.
- Provide guidance and training on payroll procedures and systems.
