Sias University of Xinzheng, Henan Province, China, and the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) have taken a significant step towards strengthening international education through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The agreement, which will be in effect for five years, marks the beginning of a dynamic partnership focused on academic cooperation, research collaboration, and cultural exchange. Both institutions share a vision of fostering global learning experiences that empower students and faculty to engage with diverse perspectives and innovative ideas.
Under the MoU, Sias University and HIT will collaborate in several key areas. Both parties agreed to exchange undergraduate and postgraduate students to promote cross-cultural learning, including faculty and staff exchanges for teaching, research, and professional development. The two Institutions also agreed to host joint academic research and publications that contribute to global knowledge. They will also share academic materials and resources to enhance learning and innovation, as well as the development of both short-term and long-term study programmes to expand educational opportunities.
Representatives from both universities expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasising its potential to broaden academic horizons and strengthen institutional ties. The collaboration is expected to open new pathways for students and researchers, encouraging the exchange of ideas that drive progress and innovation.
The MoU will remain active for five years, with the option for renewal upon mutual agreement, signalling a long-term commitment to advancing international education and global academic excellence.
Sias University (formerly known as Sias International College of Zhengzhou University) was founded in 1998 and is the first full-time undergraduate university in the province of Henan approved by the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council in China to grant international bachelor’s degrees as cooperative projects. Sias was among the first batches of qualified universities to be accredited by China’s Ministry of Education. In 2018, it was given the approval to function as an independent private undergraduate university.
The university, located in Zhengzhou City, the capital of Henan Province, operates two campuses, Xinzheng and Jingshui.
