International Application Procedure

Documents required checklist

  • Valid passport
  • Confirmation of proof payment
  • Completed Application Form
  • Certificate validated by a competent authority or foreign affairs office

 

Entry Requirements

HIT welcomes students from different countries all over the world, and as such, the University recognises the qualifications that are awarded by the competent authority of each and every country. In instances where gaps exist, bridging courses will be offered for a year to ensure that prospective students will cope with their studies like their Zimbabwean counterparts.

The student is required to pass at least five subjects including Mathematics and English Language At least 2 A’Level passes in the chosen area Nationally Accredited Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas

The Student is required to pass Mathematics and the Science Subjects. The students will also be required to undergo a one year bridging course. Those with nationally accredited diplomas will be enrolled directly into the degree programmes of their choice.

The University will assess the suitability of other systems when students from those jurisdictions apply.

The University is responsible for issuing out a acceptance letter that will be used for applying for a study permit with the Home Affairs Ministry of the Government of Zimbabwe  under the following conditions:

May be issued to a person who intends to enter and reside in Zimbabwe for the purpose of attending any educational institution, other than a school.

  1. Fully completed Residence permit Application Forms (IF5)
  2. Passport bio-data page
  3. Two passport size photos
  4. Application letter requesting for permit addressed to the Chief Director of Immigration
  5. Proof of accommodation e.g an undertaking by institution to provide accommodation
  6. Proof of payment of fees in foreign currency
  7. Chest X-ray certificate
  8. Police clearance from country of residence (not older than 6 months)
  9. 2 passport size photos
  10. Letter of acceptance form college or university
  11. Time table confirming number of lessons attended that are not less than 29 lessons per week
  12. Statutory fee USD$200 non-refundable

Students Permit Extension

  1. Letter from college or university indicating continuity of studies
  2. Copy of previous term/semester results
  3. Statutory fee USD$200 non-refundable

NB:  Copies of all documents to be sufficiently authenticated, those from outside Zimbabwe are to be notarized in the prescribed manner whilst those from within may be certified by commissioners of oaths

  1. All translations to be in English and the copies of original documents to be tendered
  2. Translations to be done by reputable  institutions (preferably government entities)
  3. All extensions to be done three (3) months prior to expiry of current permit.

Arrival

The International Office will arrage that international students be picked up from the airport on arrival or the international bus termini for those that travel by road.

Accommodation

The University ensures that all international students get accommodation on campus.

Orientation

International Students are required to undergo an intensive orientation programme before they commerce studies. The IRO will ensure that the students will be seconded to the relevant offices to avoid culture shocks.
